I knew her name and her address
I couldn’t help but hear
With mobile stuck to eardrum
She wasn’t even sitting near

She thought she was in a bubble
That somehow sealed off sound
Or why would she give her email
To everyone around

I learnt she was complaining
About her orders non arrival
With details of her credit card
Bang goes security survival

I didn’t mean to eavesdrop
But volume meant no choice
If you must use mobiles on the train
Why not just mute your voice!

A TIME AND A PLACE

If a man should start wet shaving
On a tube train at half eight
The carriage would be horrified
I would at any rate.

But girls with pasty faces
Are regularly to be seen
Inflicting complete strangers
To their whole makeup routine

I don't want to have to worry
If eye-liner goes on straight
If you need to wear foundation
Then don't get up so late

Most modes of transportation I'm confident to choose
But a Cycle Superhighway I know I'll never use

The learning falls and bruises were really not a laugh
